Public policy has the ability to effect dramatic change in tobacco use. Particularly since the late 1980s, public policy — both legislation and regulation — has become a critical component of antitobacco activities in Asia.
Not surprisingly, in almost every case, the tobacco industry is the main opponent of progressive tobacco control and prevention policies because such policies interfere with the industry’s ability to promote tobacco use. |
